Where do you turn for answers? Can we trust the Bible? I believe it can be trusted and that it contains answers to the most important questions we face in life. From Psalm 119 we read "Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens." Also, "Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way." Over the centuries, the Bible has been under attack yet it stands strong, just as the earth stands. Give yourself a break from the pull of entertainment and consider reading it. It is more than just words on pages of paper; it has power to change your life. You can know the Author, His thoughts and His heart for those who are hurting. These are words that help and words that heal.

The Book of James
I am interested in your comments on the Book of James. As my study continues, I would like to assemble thoughts, ideas, creative presentation material for this difficult but rewarding study.
These two verses are the key to the book.
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. The Holy Bible : English standard version. 2001 (James 1:19-20).
For openers, be mindful of when this book was written, who it was written to, and the occasion of the writing. That bit of wisdom will help along the way. If we understand the author's audience, intent and the occasion for the writing, we will avoid pitfalls in our hermeneutics.

The End of the Month - Goal Check
Today marks the end of the first half of 2008. If you planned to lose 10 pounds in 2008, you should be half way there. If you planned to read through the New Testament, you should be in Acts or Romans. I began reading through the NT this year in late March and I am now in the first part of Luke. So, do you have goals? I'd be interested in hearing what your goals are for 2008. Not all of them, just one or two. Maybe we could compile a list for others to consider.
